A charity that provides specially trained assistance dogs for those who served has received over £80,000 from the Veterans' Foundation

December 18 2025

The Veterans’ Foundation is proud to announce that it’s loyal supporters have helped raise over £80,000 in funding for a charity that provides specially trained assistant dogs for those who served.

This is the third consecutive year that Hounds for Heroes has received funding from the Veterans' Foundation and the latest grant of £25,000 will help support the vital role of its Fundraising Officer.

The charity helps those who were members of the UK Armed Forces and Emergency Services and suffered injury or illness as a result of their service.

Their assistance dogs are far more than just companions as they are working dogs trained to assist with everyday tasks like opening doors, retrieving dropped items and building confidence in public settings.

This most recent grant is a vital boost for the charity as the Fundraising Officer will help take the Hounds for Heroes from strength to strength and expand its capacity to raise awareness, engage supporters and secure resources needed to continue its life-changing work.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Veterans’ Foundation for it’s continued support,” said Debbie Pick, Hounds for Heroes Fundraising Manager.

“Our Fundraising Officer plays a key role in developing partnerships, organising campaigns and ensuring the donations are directed efficiently to where they have the greatest impact.

“Veterans’ Foundation supporters are phenomenal and truly help us change lives through our specially trained assistance dogs.

Over £32 million in Veterans' Foundation grants has now been awarded to organisations supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their families nationwide.

Grants have ranged from just a few hundred pounds to an impressive £200,000, enabling more than 500 charities to deliver essential services tackling key challenges faced by the veteran community – including mental health support, homelessness prevention, employment opportunities, and reducing social isolation.

You can also make a personal contribution by making a donation to the Veterans' Foundation and help rebuild the lives of those who have served.
