Veterans and their families will receive tailored support as a hospital charity benefits from a £25,000 Veterans’ Foundation grant.
We are delighted to announce that the Milton Keynes Hospital Charity has become one of over 500 organisations in the UK that have now benefited from the Veterans’ Foundation’s grant programme.
It will fund a new, dedicated Veteran Support Worker role at Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH).
The hospital recognises the unique needs and experiences of those who have served in the armed forces and this grant will help ensure that Serving personnel, Ex-forces, Reservists, and their Families (SERF) admitted to MKUH, receive care tailored to their needs.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Veterans’ Foundation for this grant,” said Vanessa Holmes, Associate Director of Milton Keynes Hospital Charity.
“It will allow us to provide dedicated, meaningful support to SERF patients ion our hospital, helping them feel seen, valued and properly cared for during what can be a vunerable time.”

The hospital already has a strong commitment to being a veteran-aware organisation and the new role will complement existing armed forces initiatives already in place at MKUH.
The new Veteran Support Worker will help veterans access relevant services, emotional and practical support and advocacy throughout their hospital experience.
The Veterans’ Lottery is now the UK’s Largest single-charity lottery and is a key funding stream for the Foundation’s grant programme.
