VF Supports First Responder Training for Veterans

August 21 2023

The Veterans’ Foundation has provided £20,000 to help REACT recruit and train military veterans to become first responders when crisis strikes.

These vital funds mark a shared mission to provide a better life for armed forces veterans and their families.

REACT operates at the forefront of disaster response, turning military veterans into agile and resilient humanitarian volunteer Responders, supporting operations within the UK and internationally.

The contribution from the Veterans’ Foundation will:

  • Enable the recruitment of more veterans: One of REACT’s charitable objectives is about repurposing the hard-earned skills of veterans. The donation allows us to reach out to more of them.
  • Investment in training: Our rigorous, scenario-based humanitarian training equips Responders to meet essential needs whilst in challenging environments.
  • Preparation for future disasters: The need for rapid and effective disaster response grows as the climate changes and global challenges evolve. By targeting our recruitment and investing in the training of more veterans, we can continue to respond to more emergencies, helping even more people when they need it most.

Jade Rolph, REACT's Director of Partnerships and Fundraising, added: "REACT wouldn't be the amazing charity it is without our veteran volunteers and the unique skills, experience and attitude they bring to disaster response.

This Veterans' Foundation funding will help us to further develop these skills through bespoke humanitarian training and to provide a collaborative and welcoming environment to support veteran wellbeing.

It's a privilege to work with the veteran community, and we couldn't be more delighted to receive support from the Veterans' Foundation. Thank you."

This donation from the Veterans' Foundation to REACT is more than a financial gift; it represents a shared commitment to empowering veterans and helping those in need.

Major General David Shaw CBE, Founder and CEO of the Veterans' Foundation, stated, “Armed forces' veterans have a unique skillset and the Veterans’ Foundation is proud to partner REACT to empower those ex-servicemen and women.

This grant will enable more veteran volunteers to make a real difference at home and abroad when humanitarian disaster strikes.”
