Gurkha Centre receives £25,000 Veterans' Foundation grant

November 11 2025

Veterans’ Foundation supporters have helped bring joy and support to Gurkha veterans and their families thanks to a £25,000 grant.

The Gurkha Centre will use the funding to cover the cost of a full-time staff position dedicated to coordinating outreach and support programmes to ensure the continuity in the services it provides to Gurkha veterans, widows and families in West London.

It’s The Gurkha Centre’s mission to improve health, well-being and social inclusion and over the next 12-months the Veterans’ Foundation funding will assist in the delivery of vital activities such as health check-up clinics, peer support groups, language classes and welfare advice sessions.

“This generous grant will enable us to strengthen our operations and reach more Gurkha veterans and families who rely on our support,” said The Gurkha Centre CEO, Hari Bhandari.

“It reflects recognition of our grassroots efforts to improve access to health, welfare and education within the community.

“We are truly thankful to the Veterans’ Foundation for believing in our work and standing with us to support our continued mission."

Over £30 million in Veterans Foundation grants has now been awarded to organisations supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their families nationwide.

Grants have ranged from just a few hundred pounds to an impressive £200,000, enabling more than 500 charities to deliver essential services tackling key challenges faced by the veteran community – including mental health support, homelessness prevention, employment opportunities, and reducing social isolation.
