£30,000 Veterans' Foundation grant to help the transition into civilian life

November 18 2025

A Veterans’ Foundation grant of £30,000 will help fund a vital service which is specifically designed for the Naval community and addresses the challenges of making the transition from service and finding employment.

The White Ensign Association has been providing free, impartial guidance for all serving and former members of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and their families for over 60 years and the charity is now developing its Career Compass, to transform career support.

With the help of a £30,000 grant from the Veterans’ Foundation, the platform has become a pioneering AI-powered service designed specifically for the Naval community, created through collaboration with dedicated developers – veterans themselves.

“Career Compass gives confidence at a time of huge change,” said Adam Marchant-Wincott, Director of Employment the White Ensign Association.

“Its interactive career discovery function helps users identify where their skills best fit in civilian life, while practical tools support applications by generating tailored CVs, covering letters and interview practice."

"All of this is backed up by personal support from our employment consultants and mentors, who provide trusted guidance and connections to employers.”

The Career Compass platform has already been piloted with hundreds of users, receiving strong feedback for its accessibility and impact.

This grant has enabled the development of a powerful tool that will continue to help Service leavers, veterans and their families move forward with purpose into rewarding futures beyond their time in uniform.

Over £30 million in Veterans Foundation grants has now been awarded to organisations supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their families nationwide.

Grants have ranged from just a few hundred pounds to an impressive £200,000, enabling more than 500 charities to deliver essential services tackling key challenges faced by the veteran community – including mental health support, homelessness prevention, employment opportunities, and reducing social isolation.

You can also make a personal contribution by making a donation to the Veterans' Foundation and help rebuild the lives of those who have served.
