Veterans’ Foundation publishes 2024–2025 Impact Report

January 26 2026

The Veterans’ Foundation has published its 2024–2025 Impact Report, highlighting a year of significant funding growth and the real difference that grants continue to make to UK charities serving the armed forces community.

Since we set up in 2016, the Veterans’ Foundation has awarded over £32 million in grants to more than 500 charities.

In 2024–2025 alone, the Foundation distributed £8.853 million in grants, thanks entirely to the generosity of Veterans’ Lottery players.

During this time, grant funding increased by 54.6%, while the number of grants awarded rose by 12.6% compared to the previous year.

This led to 214 charities and organisations receiving funding, enabling vital services to continue and expand at a time when demand remains high.

This year’s Impact Report opens with a joint introduction from the Foundation’s new leadership team, CEO Jane Gurney and COO Stella Atherstone who reflect on the charity’s achievements to date, and its ambitions as it approaches its tenth anniversary.

Readers will also find detailed insight into how funding has been distributed across the Foundation’s key areas of support: health and wellbeing; education and employment; housing and homelessness; community engagement; and forces families. These priorities reflect the wide-ranging challenges that veterans and their loved ones may face during and after service.

The impact of the funding can be seen in the range of case studies featured from charities, showing how grants translate into practical, life-changing support on the ground. From improving mental health and wellbeing, to helping veterans secure safe housing, employment and stronger community connections, these stories demonstrate the importance of sustained funding and long-term support.

We also highlight the contribution of corporate partners, including the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, and the dedication of individuals and teams who have taken on challenges to raise funds in support of the Foundation’s work.

Every grant awarded by the Veterans’ Foundation is made possible by people who choose to play the Veterans’ Lottery.

This Impact Report is a celebration of that generosity and the collective impact it continues to achieve for the Armed Forces community.
